So, you've finally started losing weight, but now, you have to worry about preventing loose skin after you've lost the weight! It's best and easiest to prevent this, but also you can go to my post, How to Tighten Loose Skin if you already have loose skin. Personally, when I began to loose weight I was so surprised and happy to see that it just began to shed off. I wasn't so over joyed when my tummy and thighs started to look saggy. So here are some ways to prevent loose skin during weight loss.
Loose Skin.
Loose Skin is caused by weight loss that happens to quickly or to vastly for your skin's elasticity to keep up. Preventing it though, is thankfully easy. Preventing loose skin is very important to do on any weight loss journey.
Firstly; HYDRATE! HYDRATE! HYDRATE!
I feel like I'm writing this on every post! And its because I am! The elasticity of your skin is very reliant on water. When you don't drink enough water, your body prioritizes it, and your skin isn't a priority. A great way to drink enough water is to drink 8oz every hour. That's one normal water bottle in two hours. Which may sound daunting but you will feel amazing, your entire body. Read my post Benefits of Drinking Water to see all the ways water will rescue you. Another way to hydrate your skin is to use lotion. Lotion will help your skin maintain its youth and retain elasticity. Also, you should avoid salt, soda and caffeine. These beverages take rob from your skin.
Dry Brushing and Exfoliation.
There's that trendy weight loss word once again. Dry brushing is when you take a natural dry brush and brush in circles up going in the direc tion of your bladder. See my post How To Dry Brush for further information. Another way to exfoliate is to use sugar scrubs.
Resistance Training.
Two to Three days of mild to moderate resistance training supplements any weight loss. In preventing loose skin though, it helps "fill out" the skin.
Loose weight slowly.
The more gradual the weight loss, the longer your skin will have to adjust, meaning less loose skin. loosing 1 - 2 pounds per week is what doctors recommend to avoid loose skin.
Vitamins and a Balanced Diet.
Vitamin B is your best friend when preventing loose skin. Also, a good way to get all your daily vitamins is to take a daily multivitamin. The absolute best way to get all your vitamins though is through a healthy balanced diet.
